Policies & Code of Conduct

TICKET POLICY

• No refunds.
• One admission per ticket.
• $8 exchange fee per order.
• Fees & taxes are included in ticket prices.
• Latecomers will not be permitted.
• The building closes at 7 PM on Tue, Wed, Sun, and at 9 PM on Thu, Fri, Sat.
• Third-party tickets will not be honoured.
• License granted herein may be revoked upon refund of the purchase price.
• Photography is permitted for personal use only. No flash photography. No professional cameras or audio/visual recording devices.
• No food or drink inside the exhibit, except bottled water.
• Service animals are only permitted if arrangements are made in advance through the Ticket Centre.

CODE OF CONDUCT

While on the premises, guests are expected to behave in a manner that is consistent with our policies. We ask that guests be respectful of the building, its contents, other guests, VENUE staff members and volunteers. Respect and sensitivity should always be shown while on VENUE property and while communicating with our staff and volunteers.

Appropriate behaviour, decorum, and conduct are required from all guests and staff members. Actions or behaviours inconsistent with the VENUE’s values and code of conduct will not be tolerated.

The VENUE’s management reserves the right to remove from the premises without compensation guests who are breaking any law, regulation, VENUE policy, displaying inappropriate behaviour, or actions that put into jeopardy the safety of other guests or staff. Ticket holders may be removed at any time by refunding their admission.

Memberships may be revoked, and guests can be banned from the premises should offensive, abusive, or threatening behaviours be demonstrated.

Inappropriate conduct resulting in immediate removal includes, without limitation:

1. Offensive, abusive, disparaging or defamatory communication, language or behaviour towards staff of the VENUE, volunteers or any other guests.
2. Violating or preventing the execution of duties by the VENUE staff to maintain order and control of public access or movement.
3. Threatening, intimidating, resisting or intentionally interfering with the VENUE staff engaged in their official duties.
4. Any damage to or destruction of property located in or around the VENUE.
5. Failure to comply with the VENUE’s policies or security measures after being advised thereof.
6. Any communication or conduct that may be damaging to the reputation of the VENUE, its staff, or volunteers when performing their assigned duties.
7. Any behaviour by individuals that exhibits actions that are inconsistent with the VENUE’s values or are harmful to staff or other guests.
8. Any actions that support or commemorate current or historical hate groups either inside or on the VENUE’s premises.
9. Any actions or language that promotes hatred towards people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, disability or sexual orientation, or any actions or display of items that support or promote organizations or people with such views.
10. Leafletting, protests, rallies, political canvassing and third-party sales that have the effect or propensity of disturbing enjoyment for other guests or staff are strictly prohibited.

GUEST BEHAVIOUR

• Guests are required to wear proper attire while in the VENUE. Shirts are to be always worn. Clothing is to refrain from containing offensive wording or imagery.
• Guests are to refrain from running in our space. Guests should also refrain from disruptive behaviour, including injurious, profane, obscene or other language deemed inappropriate while in the VENUE.
• Children age 4 and under are free but still require a ticket and close supervision.
• Children under 13 years old must always be accompanied by an adult while in the VENUE. Adults are defined as individuals aged 18 and over. Parents are not to leave their children unsupervised in different areas of the building.
• Guests suspected of being intoxicated or otherwise under the influence will be asked to leave the VENUE.
• Pets are not permitted in the building apart from service animals.
• The VENUE is a smoke-free property. Guests smoking within a nine-meter distance of any main entrance will be asked to relocate. Smoking within the building, regardless of device or substance used, is strictly prohibited.
• Obstructing the use of public areas such as entrances, emergency exits, elevators and stairways is strictly prohibited.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

• All persons entering the VENUE and the outside parameter of the building are subject to video surveillance.
• The VENUE is fully stroller and wheelchair accessible.
• Trespassing, entering or remaining on the premises when it is not open to the public (without expressed permission from management) is not permitted.
• Tampering with fire and emergency equipment is not permitted.
• Weapons of any type, or other items deemed to be inappropriate or prohibited under the Criminal Code of Canada, are strictly prohibited from entering the premises.
• The VENUE reserves the right to amend the above Code of Conduct without notice.

SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY

The presenting partners of BEYOND VAN GOGH & BEYOND MONET (VICC, Port Theatre, Nanaimo Museum & Tourism Nanaimo) adhere to the user policy described below on all social media and online platforms. We do not review or moderate all comments, but we reserve the right to remove any content posted that does not adhere to the following policy, and block or report users who share such content. The following will not be tolerated:

• Harassment, bullying, profanity, threatening language, attacks on or intimidation of any party, including our online community members or Nanaimo staff; malicious speech regarding topics of gender, sexual orientation, religion, gender identity, age, ethnic origin or race; sexist comments; hate speech; suggestion or encouragement of illegal activities; and demeaning remarks about personal appearance or ability
• Spam or fraudulent links
• Repetitive posts copied and pasted or duplicated by single or multiple users
• Advertisements, solicitations, and commercial postings
• Posting personal information of other community members or Nanaimo staff, including, but not limited to, phone number, email address, physical mailing address, and billing information.
• Private correspondence between the user and other community members, or the user and the presenting partners (VICC, Port Theatre, Nanaimo Museum, Tourism Nanaimo).
• Impersonation of a staff member, creator, or community member.
